| Turkish Cocktail Meatballs Arzu Yilmaz Serves 10 Ingredients: 1 lb. ground beef 1 medium onion, shredded 2 cloves garlic, minced 1 Tbsp. parsley, chopped 1/2 cup fresh bread crumbs 1 egg 1 teasp. cumin 1 Tbsp.salt 1/2 teasp. pepper For frying : 1/2 cup olive oil + 1/2 cup vegetable oil Directions : In a large bowl put all the ingredients. Mix it well by hand. Make small balls from the mixture. Put them on a tray. In a large saucepan bring olive oil and vegetable oil to a hot. Then, drop balls in a pan. Fry first on one side ,then, turn and fry on the other side until nicely brown. Add more oil when is necessary . Place them on a serving plate . Serve with spicy sauce. For the sauce : 1 cup strained tomatoes 1 medium onion, chopped 3 cloves garlic, crushed 3 Tbsp. olive oil 2 Tbsp. red wine vinegar 1 Tblsp. sugar 1/2 teasp. cayenne pepper 1 teasp. salt 1/2 teasp. pepper Directions : In a medium size saucepan put all the ingredients over medium heat. Cover and simmer for 15 to 20 mins. ( stirring occasionally ) Remove from the heat. Strain the sauce . Serve with Cocktail Meatballs. |
